We are sitting in our hotel room in Illinois at 9 am waiting for U-haul to come and change a tire on our car dolly. I'm so glad we got up at 7 to get an early start today. Who knows how long we'll have to wait for them to come. When we went out this morning, the tire was missing a huge section of tread all the way down to the radial.
This picture only really shows about half of the damage too.
We probably could have made it to the nearest u-haul dealer, but why chance it? It looks like its ready to blow at any second. Its a real blessing it didn't last night when we were driving all over the place on a detour through the middle of St. Louis looking for the right way to go. Between Kevin relying on the GPS and me relying on signs and the atlas, finally we found our way and made it to the hotel right outside St. Louis across the Illinois/Missouri boarder.
On a funny note, last night when we were fueling up, the pump we were using would shut off at $100. So Kevin put our card back in and it shut off at the second $100. He decided he would completely fill it up, and put the card back in a third time, however, it kicked off at 5 cents! It was hilarious. So we have $200.05 in the gas tank. (and on a sad note, it only gets 6.5 mpg...)
